We integrate with the Meals on Wheels Round-Up Donations program so your customers have the option to round up their purchase to the next dollar. By enabling Round Up Donations at the payment terminal, you can give your customers a quick and easy way to support Meals on Wheels. The feature has no impact on your reporting, deposits, or daily operations, and all processing costs are absorbed by Meals on Wheels. You can strengthen community ties and customer loyalty while making a meaningful impact, all without any added cost or effort.

Please Note: To use this integration, you must be using Payments with the Adyen processor and the P5 terminal. It does not work with Stripe.

Activate or Deactivate Donations

All P5 payment terminals come with this feature automatically enabled, but you can also easily opt out with just a few clicks. If you need to turn donations off, open the Profile page in your Payment Portal and switch off Enable Third‑Party Donations.

Once enabled, when running a card transaction through your Payments P5 terminal, the customer will be offered a prompt on the terminal to round up to the nearest dollar. It will also show what the new total would be, as pictured below.

You will no longer see your Donations in the sales reporting since the funds will go straight to the charity. The customer will see the normal transaction amount as a separate charge to their card from the donation, which will display as Meals on Wheels Donation on their card statement.

Transaction Process

Transactions will follow this typical flow at checkout:

  1. You begin a sale in the POS.
  2. The total appears on the P5 terminal.
  3. The customer presents a card through the terminal for payment.
  4. If donations are enabled, the terminal displays the donation prompt.
  5. If the customer confirms a donation, the system processes it as a separate transaction.
  6. If the customer skips the prompt, or if the donation fails, no retry occurs, and the sale completes normally.
  7. After the sale has been completed, you receive funds for the sale, and the charity receives the donation.

Together, we will:

  • Raise support for Meals on Wheels America to advance their efforts nationwide to ensure that every senior who needs Meals on Wheels gets it.
  • Invite customers to round up at checkout using this integration.
  • Increase awareness of senior hunger and isolation by featuring Meals on Wheels America at merchant locations.

Why It Matters

“[This] partnership couldn’t come at a more critical time. Across the country, too many seniors are waiting for meals and moments of connection they urgently need. [Our mutual] commitment to raising awareness and funding through this partnership will help ensure more older adults receive the support they deserve—without having to wait.”

— Kristine Templin, Chief Development and Marketing Officer, Meals on Wheels America

Our partnership with Meals on Wheels America isn’t just meaningful — it’s urgently needed.

The Meals on Wheels network is comprised of more than 5,000 community-based providers across the country dedicated to addressing senior hunger and isolation. But with growing demand and rising costs, many seniors are left waiting for nutritious meals and moments of connection. The need has never been greater, but together, we can End the Wait™.

Here’s what we’re up against:

  • Nearly 13 million seniors are threatened by or already experiencing hunger.
  • 1 in 4 Americans is 60+, with 12,000 more turning 60 every day.
  • 1 in 2 seniors living alone lack the income to pay for basic needs.
  • 56% of seniors feel lonely.
  • 1 in 3 local providers has a waitlist — with seniors waiting an average of 4 months for meals.

Here is why Meals on Wheels is the solution:

  • More than 251 million meals served annually.
  • 91% of recipients say the meals help them live more independently, 84% say they feel more secure, and 79% say the meals help improve their health.
  • Meals on Wheels can serve a senior for an entire year for roughly the same cost as a day in the hospital or 10 in a nursing home.

By joining forces with Meals on Wheels America, our merchants are helping to End the Wait™ so that every senior who needs Meals on Wheels gets it.
