Product Labels

The system enables you to print out Shelf Tags yourself. You just have to set this up in the Back End, so read on to see how quickly you can get started on your Shelf Tags!

Setting Up the Product Label Queue

You should start by choosing how labels will be added to the label queue. Note that Shelf Tags are different from Item Labels, which are placed directly on items like deli or baked goods. Shelf Tags are the labels placed on shelves to show product names, prices, and barcodes.

  1. Go to Administration > POS Manager > Security.Image showing the Security tab of the POS Manager from the Administration menu of the system's Back End.

  2. Scroll down the page of the Security tab and find Label Queue.

  3. Use the drop-list to select from Prompt, Automatically, or None. Image showing the Label Queue setting options in the Security tab of the POS Manager of the system's Back End.

  4.  If you select Prompt, you’ll be prompted to add an item to the Label Queue whenever you create a new product or edit its details. Selecting Automatically means the item will automatically go to the Label Queue. The Automatically option will auto-add any new future products you create to the Label queue. Select None instead if you do not want to print labels. For example, here is what you would see if you select Prompt here and later edit the price of an item.

Editing Your Product Labels

Now that you’ve added items to the Label Queue, you can move on to printing your labels.

  1. Go to Products > Product Labels. You’ll see all of your pending labels in the queue.

  2. If you want to add another product to the Label Queue, use Search For Product to enter the UPC, Description, or Item Code.

  3. You can also upload a picture of the UPC using the Camera button on the right of the Search bar.

  4. Once you’ve selected an item, the Cost and Price will prepopulate, and the item will be automatically added to the queue (the table on the right).

  5. Edit the price if you need. Doing so will also edit the item's price in the table.

  6. You can additionally edit the price of an item from here. Click on an item in the data table, and the item will be highlighted.

  7. Then edit the Price (not shown).

  8. If you want to remove an item from the Label Queue, select the item with the checkbox and click on the Delete button. This does not delete the product from the system, it just removes it from the Label Queue.

  9. Click on Export and Save in the upper right to save your changes. If you edit an item's details and do not click on Export and Save, your changes will not be saved when you exit the Product Labels page.

Printing Product Labels

When you’re ready to print, you have two options:

  1. If you have a Zebra printer installed and connected to the Back End, you can click on the Print to Zebra Printer button. This will print all product labels shown on your screen.

  2. Alternatively, you can click on Export and Save in the upper right corner instead. This will create a CSV file of all product labels on your screen that you can save to your computer and print. Any edited prices will automatically be updated in the product records.

Please Note: If you need to print more than one label for one specific item, we recommend you use Quick Print instead, as there isn't a feature for that in the Product Labels area. You can read the Quick Print article in the Related Articles section below.
